DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a 22-year-old University of Minnesota Duluth student found dead in a creek was drinking before he slipped from a trail and fell 75 feet.

The body of Kyle Noble of Baudette was recovered Saturday afternoon from Chester Creek in Duluth.

The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1Nmxdzw) reports the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Noble was last seen by a family member about 2 a.m. Saturday. He left that relative's residence for his home and fell from the trail sometime afterward.

Authorities say there does not appear to be any foul play, and alcohol was a factor. Autopsy results are pending, but authorities say Noble's death appears accidental. Personnel who pulled him from the creek noticed obvious head injuries.

Noble was studying mechanical engineering at UMD.
