IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Ammon man has been charged with raping a woman repeatedly over 14 years.
The Post Register reports (http://bit.ly/1iyf1pN) 49-year-old Shane Newkirk is charged with rape when the victim submits with the belief instilled by the actor in using threat of harm or any other threat. Through his attorney John Thomas, Newkirk continued his preliminary hearing. His bond was set at $100,000.
Newkirk was arrested Oct. 19 after he told an investigator he repeatedly molested and raped the victim from the time she was 10 until she was 24.
The victim told investigators she decided to report the abuse because she worried Newkirk had found a new victim. She said when she tried to stop Newkirk's assaults he told her he would target another girl.
