LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Metro Atlanta police say they've recovered two French bulldog puppies stolen from the owner when she met with a person she thought was a prospective buyer.

Gwinnett County police say the woman, who lives in Alabama, had advertised the puppies for sale online. A man called and said he would pay extra if she drove the puppies to Lawrenceville.

The woman told police she met the man in a grocery store parking lot around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. She said the man pushed her, grabbed the puppies and ran.

Investigators say they identified 18-year-old Ronald Junior Camenish as the suspect. Officers got a search warrant found the puppies unharmed in his basement and returned them to their owner.

Camenish faces a robbery charge. It wasn't immediately clear whether he had a lawyer to contact for comment on the case.
