HURRICANE — A Hurricane man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of inappropriately touching children on multiple occasions, police said.

The children involved were all family members of 54-year-old Paul Brady Whitlatch, according to the St. George Police Department. He was arrested on suspicion of 12 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

In addition to child abuse, police said Whitlatch was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, witness tampering and disorderly conduct.

"After being confronted by a family member, Paul threatened to harm himself and the family member with a loaded firearm," St. George police said in a statement. "On another occasion, Paul threatened a family member regarding what would happen if the police were involved."

Whitlatch was booked into the Washington County Jail.
