LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — A new program intended to help boost the financial literacy of elementary school students is opening in Landover.
Maryland officials are gathering Tuesday on the campus of G. James Gholson Middle School for the opening of the Prince George's County Junior Achievement Finance Park.
The project includes an interactive learning center. It's meant to teach students how to create household budgets, create spending priorities and manage debt. It also focuses on the educational and career choices students can make after graduation.
The facility is a partnership between Junior Achievement, Capital One and the Prince George's County school system.
Reps. Steny Hoyer and Donna Edwards, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker are scheduled to attend Tuesday's event.
