WEST VALLEY CITY — Police identified the man who they believe shot another shopper in a Wal-Mart parking lot after the two had an argument inside the store.
Investigators asked for help Thursday to locate 31-year-old Cole Shields in connection to the shooting, which took place in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart early Wednesday evening, according to the West Valley City Police Department. The store is located at 3180 W. 5600 South.
Shields followed a man out of the Wal-Mart and into the parking lot after getting into an argument in the store, according to police. They said Shields then fired shots at the man from a handgun, hitting the man twice in his feet.
Police are still looking for Shields, who they said left the parking lot in a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer that has a temporary license plate. The car, which has damage to its front right quarter panel and a spoiler on the rear, was reportedly being driven by 24-year-old Cassandra Burningham.
Police said the cause of the original argument has not been determined.
