GLEN CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA — Officials say a man who was cliff jumping at Lake Powell on Friday went into the water and wasn't seen again.
The 28-year-old man from Jackson, Wyoming, was attempting a 90-foot jump in Face Canyon, according to a release from the National Park Service and the Cocino County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses reported that the man didn't resurface after going into the water. Bystanders tried searching for the man immediately after the jump but couldn't locate him, according to the release.
The Coconino County Sheriff's Office and Utah State Parks officials responded and began a search of the 150-foot deep water that continued Saturday, utilizing dive teams, a remotely operated vehicle and specialists, and law enforcement.
The man's name was not released Saturday.
The search is ongoing and the incident remains under investigation.
