ATLANTA (AP) — Emory University's rare book library is adding to its collection on writer Jack Kerouac.
Library officials announced Thursday it had acquired correspondence between Kerouac and friend Neal Cassady.
Cassady has been credited with inspiring Kerouac's writing style in the novel "On The Road" that became known as Beat literature.
The items, including photographs of the author, came from Kerouac's brother-in-law, John Sampas.
The collections will be kept at Emory's Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library. The library already is home to papers and other material from Kerouac and his third wife, Stella Sampas Kerouac.
