SALT LAKE CITY — Police are seeking a man who allegedly knocked his girlfriend unconscious Saturday night after demanding she give him $200 and hydrocodone pills, officials said.
Police responded to the Allstar Travel Motel at 754 W. North Temple around 9:40 p.m., where they found the victim, who is in her mid- to late-40s, covered in lacerations and had several teeth missing, according to Salt Lake police detective Cody Lougy.
The couple had gotten in a fight when the victim's boyfriend, Salt Lake resident Brandon Adams, 40, demanded the money and pills she had, and he began to beat her and pinned her up against the wall, holding a knife to her throat, Lougy said.
The victim was treated at the hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive.
Adams fled in a 1995 burgundy Buick Century with Utah license plate number D380GY.
He is described as a black male, about 5-foot-9 and 250 pounds.
Adams has previously been convicted of distribution of controlled substance and attempted distribution/offer/arrange to distribute a controlled substance, according to court documents.
Police are asking the public to not approach him if they see him, but call 911. Anyone with information may call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
