LAYTON — The Layton Police Department is actively searching for a man for questioning in connection to a house fire that caused $40,000 in damage Sunday afternoon.
The Layton City Fire Department responded to a house fire in Layton on Antelope Drive on Sunday. When they responded, they began working on the flames and found a car on fire in the garage. The door leading to the house from the garage was open, which filled the home with smoke.
Investigators arrived on scene and declared the fire suspicious.
The owners of the home were away at the time of the fire attending church services. Their 41-year-old son was at home, but he could not be found when crews responded at the scene. Police are now looking for him, but they have not released the man's name.
No one was injured in the fire, officials said.
