MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin running back Corey Clement will miss the Badgers' home opener Saturday against Miami (Ohio) because of a sore left groin.

The junior had been limited in practice this week. The team decided to hold Clement out on Friday.

Junior Dare Ogunbowale and redshirt freshman Taiwan Deal are the backups.

Clement initially got hurt in practice leading up to Wisconsin's 35-17 loss last week to Alabama. He gained 16 yards on eight carries in limited action.

Clement ran for 969 yards and nine touchdowns on 147 carries last season as the top backup to Heisman Trophy runner-up Melvin Gordon.
