SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Seven people were injured, including one with critical burns, after an explosion Thursday at the Taser International plant in north Scottsdale, authorities said.
One man was transported from the scene in critical condition while six others were hospitalized in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, Scottsdale Fire Department officials said.
It wasn't immediately clear if all of the injured were Taser employees, and their names and ages weren't released.
Nine other people who were evacuated from the Taser production facility refused treatment, Fire Battalion Chief Chris Schibi said.
The call for help came into the fire department about 4:15 p.m., Schibi said. It wasn't immediately clear how the explosion occurred and what it involved, he said.
Firefighters and city police remained at the plant Thursday night and were working with Taser representatives to determine what happened.
An after-hours call at Taser International seeking comment on the incident wasn't immediately returned.
Taser is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of electrical stun guns, body-worn cameras and other items that are mainly used by law enforcement and the military.
