SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A wildfire burning near Deer Creek Reservoir has spread to 500 acres but the blaze is not threatening any homes.

Mike Eriksson of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands said Tuesday the fire is about 5 percent contained.

Investigators believe the blaze was started by a person Monday afternoon, but Eriksson said he couldn't elaborate on what happened.

Eriksson says the Cascade Springs campground and a few surrounding roads remain closed, but residents in a grouping of about 20 homes have been allowed to return home.

Deer Creek Reservoir is about 30 miles southeast of Salt Lake City in Wasatch County.
