TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed offensive tackle Demar Dotson on injured reserve/designated for return, meaning the seventh-year pro will be sidelined until at least early November because of a sprained right knee.

The Bucs announced the move Monday, when they also signed eight players to the practice squad, including sixth-round draft pick Kaelin Clay.

Dotson was injured during the team's preseason opener and has not practiced since. He eligible to return in Week 9 against the New York Giants on Nov. 8. His injury led to the Bucs signing veteran Gosder Cherilus as a fill-in at right tackle.

Clay is a wide receiver who was released when the active roster was trimmed to 53 players. The others added to the practice squad were receiver Donteea Dye, cornerbacks Imoan Claiborne and Jude Adjei-Barimah, linebacker Josh Keyes, offensive tackles Terren Jones and Edawn Coughman and defensive end Howard Jones.
