SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Trent Brittain hit Jordan Hicks on a 14-yard scoring strike late in the fourth quarter as Incarnate Word bounced back to take an 18-16 victory over Div. II Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
Trailing 16-10 in the fourth, Brittain broke for a 57-yard run before being pulled down at the 22. Two plays later he hit Hicks for the score and the lead with 5:04 remaining in the game. Cody Seidel ran for the 2-point conversion.
Brittain finished with 269 total yards, throwing for 160 and rushing for 109 on 13 carries. Hicks caught five passes for 52 yards and had a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Texas A&M-Kingsville took a 16-10 lead with 1:50 remaining in the third when Myles Carr passed to Shawn Vasquez from the 17 for the score.
Carr finished with 176 yards passing and one touchdown.
