OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Drew Kummer threw two touchdown passes, Alonzo Smith ran for two, and Miami (Ohio) beat Presbyterian 26-7 in the opener for both teams on Saturday in a game interrupted in the third quarter due to lightning.
Kummer's fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Rokeem Williams made it a two-score game and Smith's second of the day, a 1-yard plunge, iced it. Kummer finished 14 of 19 for 255 yards. Smith had 86 yards on 12 carries.
Miami led 13-0 following a turnover-filled first half. Presbyterian turned it over twice — a fumble that turned into a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kummer to Chris Hudson, and Tony Reid's interception of Tamyn Garrick in the end zone. Miami coughed it up twice as well.
In the third, a short Miami punt from its own end zone set up Presbyterian for a 38-yard touchdown drive, with Darrell Bridges carrying in from the 2. Bridges had 125 yards on 27 carries.
