GRAYSON, Ky. (AP) — About 300 people have gathered outside the Kentucky jail where a county clerk is being held for defying court orders to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Supporters of Rowan (ROW'-uhn) County Clerk Kim Davis chanted "thank you, Kim" and hailed Davis as a Christian hero. One sign read "God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers."
PHOENIX (AP) — A court ruling yesterday could mean the end of challenges to Arizona's 2010 immigration law. A federal judge upheld the controversial requirement that police, while enforcing other laws, can question the immigration status of those suspected of being in the country illegally. The judge said the law's challengers failed to show that police would enforce the statute differently for Latinos than it would for people of other ethnicities.
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton has told reporters in New Hampshire that her family paid a State Department employee to maintain the private email server she used while secretary of state. She says they paid for those services "for a period of time" because they continued to need his technical assistance." The employee has told a House committee he would invoke his constitutional right against self-incrimination if called to testify.
FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say new evidence puts them closer to identifying potential suspects in the killing of an Illinois police officer. A detective with the Lake County Sheriff's Office says a "significant" piece of evidence was recovered from the crime scene yesterday. He says investigators are also getting help from technicians who are piecing together several videos. Police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz (GLIHN'-uh-wihts) was killed Tuesday while pursuing three men on foot.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two people are dead and four others injured after a fiery collision in Las Vegas. Fire officials say they found a minibus engulfed in flames after colliding with a car this morning. Police say two people on the bus died at the scene and two other passengers as well as two from the car have been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
