LAS VEGAS (AP) — The museum that chronicles Sin City's mob beginnings is hoping to score with an exhibit exploring FIFA's wide-ranging corruption scandal. The Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas is debuting the exhibit today. U.S. prosecutors indicted top-ranking FIFA officials in May and sought their extradition on charges of bribery, fraud and racketeering.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Closing arguments are scheduled today in the trial of a former Las Vegas firefighter accused of hiring a homeless ex-convict to kill his wife with a hammer nearly three years ago. The defense rested yesterday without George Tiaffay (TEE'-uh-fay) testifying about the September 2012 slaying of Shauna Tiaffay.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio says the U.S. doesn't need a federal Education Department. The Florida senator spoke at a town hall meeting of about 200 people today in Carson City. He's on a multi-stop tour of northern Nevada. He says some of the department's duties could be divided among other agencies.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada PAC is asking a court to block efforts to repeal the entire $1.1 billion tax package that Nevada lawmakers passed this spring. The Coalition for Nevada's Future filed the request today in Carson City. It challenges a petition filed earlier this month by anti-tax activist Chuck Muth, who says lawmakers passed the legislation even though voters rejected a tax measure on the November ballot.
