TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released punter Michael Koenen and placed defensive tackle Akeem Spence on the reserve/physically unable to perform list while trimming the roster to the NFL limit of 75 players for the final preseason game.

The team also waived center Josh Allen, wide receiver Robert Herron and cornerback Leonard Johnson injured on Tuesday.

Koenen was entering his fifth season with the Bucs and was scheduled to earn $3.25 million. He was beaten out by Jacob Schum, who was claimed off waivers from the New York Jets last week.

Spence will not count against the Bucs' active roster until activated. He will be eligible to return after six weeks.
