SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A veteran Utah prosecutor has been sworn into office as the state's new U.S. Attorney.
John Huber took the oath of office in a ceremony at the federal courthouse in Salt Lake City on Monday.
Huber has worked in the U.S. Attorney's office since 2002, and previously served as a prosecutor in West Valley City and Weber County.
During his federal tenure, Huber led the case against Tim DeChristopher, an activist who sabotaged a federal auction for drilling parcels on public land near national parks. DeChristopher served 21 months in prison.
Huber graduated from the University of Utah and still lives in his hometown of Magna. Huber will oversee both civil and criminal federal cases with an 85-person in Salt Lake City and St. George.
He replaces David Barlow, who resigned last year.
