CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A consultant hired to investigate the head of Nevada's higher education system says the chancellor didn't violate any ethical standards in handling a report about the state's community college system. Chancellor Dan Klaich was accused of inappropriately whitewashing a consultant's draft report that was critical of Nevada's community college system.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Prison officials say a 78-year-old female inmate in prison for second-degree murder and attempted arson has died. The Nevada Department of Corrections says Joan Corbyons had died the day before at the Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. Corbyons had been in prison since 2007 after pleading guilty to her role in a 2005 fire at her home that killed her 41-year-old daughter.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say two churches in Incline Village have been vandalized, the latest targets in a string of similar incidents in the Lake Tahoe area. The Village Church and the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church were vandalized overnight Saturday. The churches are located less than a mile apart along Mt. Rose Highway. Washoe County authorities say they are working with the FBI to bring charges against whoever is responsible for the damage.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County health officials are warning residents in a section of Verdi west of Reno to refrain from using water from the public system after it was found to be contaminated with E. Coli. A County Health District Spokesman says the no-use order applies to the River Belle Mobile Home Park, River Belle Market and U.S. Post Office in Verdi.
