MIAMI (AP) — Pittsburgh's Gerrit Cole won his 15th game after pitching the Pirates to a 2-1 victory over Miami. Cole hadn't gotten the win in any of his previous five starts, and the Pirates are 45-22 all-time when he takes the mound.

EDISON, N.J. (AP) — Bubba Watson is tied with Spencer Levin. Tony Finau and Camilo Villegas (kuh-MIHL'-oh vih-JAY'-guhs) for the lead after the first round of The Barclays after shooting 5-under 65. Jordan Spieth (SPEETH) got off to a rough start in the first tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs, shooting a four-over 70.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly says defensive end Ishaq Williams has been ruled ineligible for the season by the NCAA, ending his college playing career. Williams was dismissed from Notre Dame last fall after being investigated for possible academic dishonesty, and had his waiver appeal for another season rejected by the NCAA.

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Justin Wilson's race car will be back on track for the IndyCar season finale. Andretti Autosport announced that series veteran Oriol Servia will drive Wilson's No. 25 Honda at Sonoma Raceway this weekend. The 37-year-old Wilson died Monday, a day after a piece of debris from another car struck him in the head at Pocono Raceway.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Darryl Dawkins, one of the most colorful players in the NBA and the first to go from high school into the first round of the NBA draft, has died of a heart attack at 58. Dawkins spent parts of 14 seasons in the NBA with Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah and Detroit, averaging 12 points and 6.1 rebounds in 726 career regular-season games.
