KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has received a $2 million grant to support nurses in Appalachia.
The grant is from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.
Victoria Niederhauser is dean of UT's College of Nursing. She says nearly half of the school's nursing graduates go on to work in practices that serve rural populations.
Niederhauser says the grant will allow the school to provide advanced training and implement new models of care delivery that focus on health care analytics, population health, reaching more patients via telehealth and improving support services.
The grant will support the college's academic partnership with Chota Community Health Services and Community Health of East Tennessee.
