SEATTLE (AP) — Central Washington University is lowering the cost of attendance for students affected by wildfires in north central Washington by offering tuition waivers.
The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/1Jv2iug ) that about 300 students have been given $1,000 waivers to lower their tuition burden.
President James Guadino said in a news release that the waivers are to help students cope with the effects of the wildfires.
The school in Ellensburg is also allowing liberal use of personal leave for university employees who want to help fight the massive fires. The fall quarter starts Sept. 23.
