TOOELE — Two iguanas, including one that is rare in the United States, were stolen from Rockstar Pets in an unusual and targeted burglary, the store manager says.
Jen Walters, Rockstar Pets manager, said one albino iguana taken from her store late Wednesday night or early Thursday is worth about $2,000 and one of only seven of its kind in the U.S. The other albino reptile is worth $400, she said.
Toole police officer Tanya Turnbow confirmed the store was burglarized and two iguanas were taken overnight. She declined to speak on the specific monetary value of the iguanas.
"I do know that they're valuable," Turnbow said.
A Tooele police detective is working with Walters to identify further clues in the case, according to Turnbow. The burglary is highly unusual, she said.
In my experience, I've not seen a case where iguana lizards have been stolen.

"In my experience, I've not seen a case where iguana lizards have been stolen," she said.
Walters said in an email that the iguanas were the only thing taken from the pet store, meaning the burglar "knew what they were here for."
Tooele police are asking for the public's help solving the burglary, Turnbow said.
"I know that the store owners would appreciate getting the animals back," she said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Tooele police at 435-882-5600.
