Thanks to quick thinking, a Taylorsville family is safe this morning after their house caught fire.

Unified Fire Authority Battalion Chief Marty Slack said, "The occupants did exactly what they should have. They heard a pop, they smelled some smoke, and they got right out of the house."

It happened last night near 4900 South and 1100 West in Taylorsville. Officials say the homeowners were inside with their granddaughter when they heard that popping noise and got out. They went across the street to their daughter's home and called 911.

Firefighters had a difficult time controlling the flames because the fire was spreading through walls and pipes in the floor.

Luckily, no one was injured. Investigators have not determined a cause.
