ALBANY, Mo. (AP) — A northwest Missouri band teacher is charged with sex crimes involving a student.
Gentry County authorities say Christopher Hensley, Albany School District band director, was charged Saturday with four counts each of statutory rape and sexual contact with a student. The alleged incidents occurred in May and July.
Superintendent Erin Oligschlaeger says Hensley was placed on leave Saturday and won't be allowed on school district property while the case is investigated. She says arrangements are being made to continue the band program in his absence. She declined to say how long Hensley had worked for the district.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/1DHEtTB ) that Hensley is jailed in Harrison County on $50,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 19.
Court records do not show that he has an attorney.
