ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) — Grand Valley State athletic director Tim Selgo will retire next spring after 20 years at the helm.
The school made the announcement on Wednesday. Under Selgo's guidance, Grand Valley State has become one of the nation's top Division II athletic programs. The Lakers won national titles in football in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006.
The native of Pettisville, Ohio, will be inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame this fall.
Selgo says he's making the announcement now to give the school time to find a successor.
