NEW YORK (AP) — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into Harman car radios following a recent recall of 1.4 million Fiat Chrysler cars and trucks due to a hacking vulnerability. Hackers got into a Jeep Cherokee SUV through an electronic opening in the radio and were able to take control of the car over the Internet. The vulnerability, exposed by two security experts and well-known hackers, was first disclosed in Wired magazine. The agency is investigating which other cars have the affected radios and whether they are vulnerable.

DETROIT (AP) — Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 322,000 sedans worldwide because side air bags can inflate if doors are slammed too hard. The recall covers certain Dodge Chargers from the 2011 to 2014 model years, mainly in the U.S. and Canada. Last week, more than 843,000 Dodge Ram pickup trucks were recalled for the same problem.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Justice Department says problems have been fixed that led to about 2,100 work permits being mistakenly awarded under President Barack Obama's executive immigration action, according to court documents filed yesterday. The Texas-based judge had ordered federal officials to explain how the permits were wrongly given out in May after he put Obama's immigration plan on hold at the request of a coalition of 26 states.

ALTURAS, Calif. (AP) — Officials say a firefighter killed by a Northern California wildfire was exploring for ways to attack it when he became trapped after erratic winds stoked the blaze. U.S. Forest Service firefighter David Ruhl was scouting the area Thursday when the fire became very active and crews lost communication with him. His body was recovered yesterday. Ruhl is from South Dakota and had been on temporary assignment in California since June.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe has suspended the hunting of lions, leopards and elephants in an area where a lion popular with tourists was killed by an American hunter. And the African country's wildlife authority says it's investigating the killing of another lion in April that may have been illegal. Officials say an arrest has been made in that case.
