SAND HOLLOW STATE PARK — Officials say a man drowned at Sand Hollow State Park Wednesday evening.

Laura Melling, Sand Hollow State Park manager, said the victim is in his 20s and from out of state.

The man was swimming with a group of friends and family when they realized he was missing. They eventually found the man, pulled him onto a boat and attempted CPR, Melling said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no indicators of any sort of medical conditions. Witnesses say the water was choppy at the time, but Melling isn't sure if that contributed to his drowning or not. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time, she said.

Officials have not yet released the man's identity.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
