ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) — The second round of the British Open, which started yesterday morning, has been completed in St. Andrews, Scotland. Play was called last night because of darkness after a three-hour rain delay. It was then shut down for over 10 hours today because of high winds. When all was said and done the leader was Dustin Johnson by a stroke.

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) — Tiger Woods failed to make the cut at the British Open. The winner of 14 Grand Slam tournaments completed the first two rounds at 7 over par after an opening-round 4-over 76 and a second-round 75.

SAO PAULO (AP) — Former soccer great Pele (PAY'-lay) is hospitalized in a Sao Paulo, Brazil. A press officer for the Albert Einstein hospital says the hospital could only confirm that Pele has been hospitalized but could not detail why. The 74-year-old underwent prostate surgery at the same hospital last May.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Van Miller, the longtime voice of the Buffalo Bills, has passed away. Miller, who starting calling the Bills games during their first year of existence in 1960, was 87. He served in that role from 1960 to 1970 and again from 1978 until his retirement in 2003.

MENDE, France (AP) — The 14th stage of the Tour de France is over and Britain's Chris Froome is still in front. As a matter of fact his lead is bigger than ever after countryman Stephen Cummings won the stage. Froome now has an overall lead of 3 minutes, 10 seconds over Nairo Quintana.
