GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Davenport University is restructuring several of its campuses across Michigan amid declining enrollment.
The Grand Rapids Press reports (http://bit.ly/1KaznSa ) the changes announced Thursday will see locations in Flint and Kalamazoo close and reopen as part of community colleges in those cities.
In addition, the school says its Battle Creek campus will close and the Saginaw campus will merge with Davenport's Midland campus. The university says, however, that it will explore creating a new campus to serve the Midland, Bay City and Saginaw region.
Davenport's President Richard Pappas says that in recent years enrollment has dropped or shifted online at some campuses — especially among adult students. Enrollment has grown at its Lettinga campus in Caledonia Township, near Grand Rapids.
Davenport University is a private, nonprofit education institution.
