ESCALANTE, Utah (AP) -- A wildfire is burning 11 miles west of Escalante in the Dixie National Forest.

Forest Service fire information officer Kenton Call says the fire was accidentally started Sunday morning after a truck caught on fire.

By late Monday afternoon, about 2,500 acres had burned. The sheriff's office said it was 15 percent contained.

Call says the fire is spreading rapidly due to dry vegetation, high winds, high temperatures and drought conditions.

Forest officials have closed some Garfield County roads near the fire, which is threatening several seasonal cabins and some grazing areas.

The Forest Service was using aircraft to contain the blaze. No structures were threatened.
