CICERO, N.Y. (AP) — Aerial spraying of Cicero Swamp is now scheduled for Friday.
The spraying was scheduled earlier this week after the county Health Department found Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus in a mosquito pool in the Cicero Swamp area, but weather forced the treatment to be pushed back twice.
It's the first finding of West Nile virus in Onondaga County this year. There have been no human cases reported in the county in 2015.
West Nile virus can be much less severe and most infected humans do not develop symptoms. Symptoms from both viruses include sudden high fever, muscle pains, and a headache of increasing severity.
