WEST JORDAN — Police are questioning a teenager they say may be responsible for two overnight robberies in the Salt Lake Valley.

The first incident occurred at a Holiday gas station at 8166 S. and state Route 11 in West Jordan around 10:30 p.m., according to Lt. Rich Bell with the West Jordan Police Department.

The two store clerks told police a masked man pulled a gun on a customer sitting in a car outside the store and told him to leave.

They said the robber then walked into the store where at least five more customers were shopping and grabbed the clerks and shoved them to the counter while pointing a gun at them.

They said he took cash from the registers then fled. Police believe he had a getaway car but couldn't confirm that.

About 20 minutes after the first robbery, Unified police responded to a report of a robbery at a Shell gas station near 8100 West and 3500 South in Magna.

The clerks reported a man with a gun jumped over the counter, threatened them, stole cash then fled. Police said he got into a silver Jeep Liberty.

West Valley City police located the vehicle a short time later and tried to pull it over, but the driver exited the vehicle and ran away.

A police dog attacked the driver and took him down.

Police said the driver is 17 years old and is wanted on several outstanding warrants.

He was being booked into jail for investigation of aggravated robbery.

West Jordan police believe the teen arrested by Unified and West Valley police may be the masked gunman from the incident in their city but were still trying to determine that.
