TV president GEENA DAVIS doesn't know whether to laugh or cry about her first Emmy Award nomination - because it's for a cancelled show.

The THELMA & LOUISE star is up for a Best Actress honour at the upcoming US TV awards - for her role as PRESIDENT MACKENZIE ALLEN in axed show COMMANDER IN CHIEF.

And though there's a planned film in the works, Davis admits the nomination made her realise how much she misses her TV character.

She says, "It's the definition of bittersweet. I really consider it one of the parts of a lifetime."

Davis blames the show's changing time slot for its falling ratings.

She explains, "People were wondering 'Where's the show? When is it on?'" (KL/WNVET/SH)
