COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho. (AP) — New charges including first-degree murder have been filed against a man arrested in the shooting death of Coeur d'Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore. The Spokesman-Review reports Jonathan Renfro is charged with shooting Moore as the officer questioned him early in the morning of May 5. Moore was shot in the face and died later that day at a hospital.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Mississippi's flag, and the Confederate symbols embedded within it, has come down outside Boise's City Hall. Boise Mayor David Bieter pushed to have the symbol removed from City Hall's 50-state display following the South Carolina church massacre and ensuing debate over the Confederate flag being flown at the capitol there.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service has approved a gold mining company's plan to reopen a 4-mile road in a central Idaho wilderness and drill core samples to find out if two of its claims are profitable enough to be mined. The federal agency says a Payette National Forest Supervisor approved American Independence Mines and Minerals Co.'s plan in the Frank Church River Of No Return Wilderness. The Forest Service says mining is allowed in the wilderness as mining laws and mining in the area predate wilderness designation.
POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 20-year-old northern Idaho woman police say lied to authorities so she could be rid of eight puppies has been cited with filing a false report. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office tells the Coeur d'Alene Press that Mariah Eutsler received the misdemeanor citation. The puppies are in foster care.
