PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) — Addison Frances Lumsden couldn't wait any longer. The 18-inch baby was born in an elevator between the second and third floors of South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City.
Mom Amanda Lumsden of Lakeland was scheduled for an induced delivery Thursday. But she started feeling mild contractions Wednesday morning and headed to the hospital with husband Jeff and 2-year-old son Jackson.
Amanda Lumsden got into a wheelchair and emergency services technician Rachel Sandora pushed her into the elevator. But Addison couldn't wait.
The Ledger of Lakeland (http://bit.ly/1LpKGmw ) reports Sandora caught the 4-pound, 12-ounce baby, and unit secretary Jeanice Lerum yelled "Baby!" as the doors opened.
Jeff Lumsden says Addison is a great Father's Day gift. Her brother's delivery was also notable: he was born Dec. 12, 2012, or 12/12/12.
