ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Firing Line, runner-up in the Kentucky Derby, will miss the $350,000 Los Alamitos Derby next month because of a sore right front foot.

The colt was beaten by a length in the Kentucky Derby by winner American Pharaoh, the closest any horse came to the Triple Crown champion in the Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.

Firing Line missed a scheduled workout last weekend because of his foot.

Trainer Simon Callaghan said Sunday that Firing Line's injury hasn't cleared up, so he will wait and hopefully point the colt toward racing later this summer.
