HAVRE, Mont. (AP) — Montana State University-Northern has reinstated its programs for aspiring high school teachers and is enrolling students who want to teach high school science and physical education.
The state Board of Regents in May approved Northern's request to offer the two specialties.
A moratorium was put on the second education programs in 2013 under then-Northern Chancellor James Limbaugh because they graduated an average of 14 students per year, half in physical education and health.
Carol Reifschneider is Northern's interim dean for the College of Education. She says the school plans to seek approval to also restart secondary education degrees with specialties in English and social sciences beginning in the fall of 2016.
