FRANKENMUTH, Mich. (AP) — A new educational facility is planned at Michigan State University's Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center.
The 11,000-square-foot building is on the Frankenmuth-area center's current property and will provide additional space for meetings and demonstrations.
More than $1 million is being contributed from agriculture industry groups and Michigan businesses to boost the project. Construction is expected to conclude in August.
Plans for the SVREC Agricultural Education Center include a 250-person meeting room, a 50-person classroom for hands-on learning activities, on-site offices and a multipurpose reception space.
The East Lansing university since 1971 has operated a research center in the Saginaw Valley area, which is home to most of the dry bean and sugar beet production in Michigan
