SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Tate Matheny hit a grand slam and two doubles and Jon Harris pitched eight solid innings after allowing a leadoff homer to power Missouri State over Canisius 14-1 on Saturday in the NCAA Springfield Regional.

Matt Fultz added three RBIs, including a third-inning sacrifice fly to give the Bears (46-10) a 2-1 lead. Missouri State played Iowa later Saturday.

Matheny's grand slam highlighted an eight-run sixth. Missouri State had 17 hits.

Connor Panas hit a home run on Harris' second pitch. After that, he allowed only two more hits. Harris (8-1) struck out eight and walked three.

Canisius (34-29), which plays Oregon later Saturday, lost top hitter and first baseman Ryan Steckel in the third inning on a bad-hop that ricocheted off his face.
