KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Mass graves have now become part of the migrant crisis in Asia. Malaysian authorities say they have discovered "mass graves" in more than a dozen abandoned camps used by human traffickers on the border with Thailand, where Rohingya (ROH'-hin-GAH') Muslims fleeing Myanmar have been held. They did not say how many bodies were found. Similar camps and dozens of remains were recovered in jungle camps across the border in Thailand earlier this month.
BEIJING (AP) — Flooding in central and southeastern China has now killed at least 52 people and left another six missing. More than a quarter-million people have been moved to temporary shelters, and major damage has been inflicted on buildings and crops. Seasonal rains cause major flooding around China almost every year. The worst in recent history was in 1998, when 4,150 people died, most of them along the Yangtze River.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Officials say a mosque attack in Saudi Arabia Friday was the work of an Islamic State group suicide bomber, lending credence to an IS claim of responsibility. The attack killed 21 people at a Shiite mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia.
CLEVELAND (AP) — A judge's ruling of not guilty touched off angry protests in Cleveland over the deaths of two unarmed black suspects who died in a 137-shot barrage of police bullets following a car chase. Some arrests were made. Though he was found not guilty of criminal charges, Michael Brelo still faces administrative charges while remaining suspended without pay.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Storms in Oklahoma played havoc with events and roads. A music festival was evacuated because in Pryor, about 50 miles west of Tulsa. Officials say 15 highways were closed for a time yesterday and evacuation orders have been issued in Elk City, Oklahoma, and Wichita Falls, Texas, amid warnings about potentially historic flooding.
