SANDY, Utah (AP) — Two teenagers have died in a collision after their vehicle pulled out in front of a Jeep Wrangler in Sandy. The Deseret News reports that police say the 17-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were in a small car when they were making a left turn and got T-boned by the Jeep yesterday. Another 17-year-old boy in the car was hospitalized with minor injuries. Two riders inside the Jeep were uninjured.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors have filed a new money laundering charge against former Utah Attorney General John Swallow. Court records show that prosecutors also dropped a charge against Swallow yesterday, leaving the number of counts against him at 14. Swallow and his predecessor, Mark Shurtleff, have denied any wrongdoing.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — A former Navajo Nation presidential candidate who was disqualified over a language fluency requirement has landed a job with the U.S. Department of Energy. The agency said this week that Chris Deschene (des-CHEE'-nee) is the new director of its Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs. Deschene is a former Arizona state legislator and lawyer.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State lawmakers say they're hopeful they'll work out a compromise this year to allow Tesla Motors to sell its electric cars in Utah. Tesla Motors built a showroom in Salt Lake City. But weeks before a planned opening in March, the Utah attorney general's office ruled that they couldn't sell cars under state laws barring a manufacturer from owning more than 45 percent of any dealership.
