MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Nick Day hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Iowa a 3-2 victory over Ohio State on Wednesday in the Big Ten tournament.
Day homered off closer Trace Dempsey after Dempsey walked Eric Schenck-Joblinske.
Tyler Peyton pitched a scoreless game into the seventh inning for the second-seeded Hawkeyes (38-14). Zach Ratcliff started the rally for the seventh-seeded Buckeyes (35-18) with a double in the seventh inning, setting up Tre Gantt's sacrifice fly to net Ohio State's first run.
Pat Porter's solo home run in the eighth inning gave the Buckeyes a 2-1 lead.
The Hawkeyes will face third-seeded Michigan on Thursday. The Buckeyes will play sixth-seeded Indiana.
