RIVERDALE, Utah (AP) — Police say two men were arrested in a murder-for-hire plot in Weber County after arguing over the payment and phoning authorities. Fifty-nine-year-old Joseph Lopez is accused of paying 41-year-old David Northcutt several thousand dollars to kill his adult daughter's boyfriend. According to Riverdale police, Lopez demanded his money back after Northcutt failed to follow through with the killing.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A West Jordan man has been convicted of negligent homicide in connection with a head-on wreck that killed a man in 2012. Fifty-one-year-old Carl Holm awaits sentencing July 10 after a 3rd District Court jury found him guilty of the class A misdemeanor charge Thursday. Holm is accused of running a red light at a Bangerter Highway intersection in September 2012 and colliding with a car in which 18-year-old Francisco Ramirez was a passenger. Ramirez was killed.

TOOELE, Utah (AP) — Authorities in Utah think they finally know the identity of a man who was found dead 39 years ago near a landfill along the Nevada border. Tooele County Sheriff Paul Wimmer says he's confident the body is that of David Stack of Broomfield, Colorado, who was 18 when he was last seen June 1, 1976, with a plan to hitchhike to California.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Three high school seniors in Utah are among 141 students nationwide who have been named U.S. Presidential Scholars. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced that Brianna Ray of Timpanogos High in Orem, Natalya Ritter of Rowland Hall-St Mark's School in Salt Lake City and Calvin Yu of Hillcrest High in Sandy will be honored in Washington, D.C., in June.
