NEW YORK (AP) — Infielder Dilson Herrera has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the New York Mets, who recalled third baseman Eric Campbell from Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

Herrera broke the tip of his middle finger on his throwing hand while taking pregame grounders Friday. Mets manager Terry Collins said he had not yet been given a timetable for Herrera's return.

Campbell arrived on a red-eye flight from Las Vegas at 6 a.m. Saturday and was in the starting lineup at third.

"It's better coming this was than going the other way," he said.

Campbell hit .200 (10 for 50) with the Mets from April 15 to May 5 as a fill-in for injured third baseman David Wright and was hitting .440 with four homers and 13 RBIs at Las Vegas. With Campbell's arrival, Daniel Murphy shifted from third back to second.
