KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) — Nepal's army says searchers have recovered all eight bodies from the crash of a U.S. Marine helicopter that crashed this week during an earthquake relief mission. The wreckage was found on Friday. The helicopter carried six Marines an two Nepal soldiers. It disappeared several days ago.
BOSTON (AP) — The federal jury in Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehvz) trial has pronounced a death sentence on the 21-year-old, setting the stage for what could be the nation's first execution of a terrorist in the post-9/11 era. The jury gave him the death penalty on six of a possible 17 counts. Appeals could take years.
NEW YORK (AP) — A House committee is planning a hearing on the Amtrak derailment that killed eight people. Republican Rep. Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, says it's important to understand what happened. The FBI is now investigating the possibility that some sort of projectile hit the train just before it derailed.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi authorities say they found the weapon used to kill two Hattiesburg police officers. Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain said city workers cutting the grass along a street found the .40-caliber pistol and ballistic tests confirm that the gun fired the bullets used in the shooting. Seven people have been arrested on various charges, including the alleged shooter.
MEXICO CITY (AP) — It's a first for Mexico's Supreme Court which is taking a stand against bullying. The court has for the first time ordered a school to compensate a child for bullying by classmates, ruling that a teacher encouraged the harassment. The private school and the teacher have been ordered to pay $36,500 to the family of the 7-year-old.
