TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired shortstop Ronald Torreyes from the Houston Astros for cash or a player to be named.

The trade was announced Friday.

In six minor league seasons, the 22-year-old Torreyes is a career .303 hitter.

Torreyes was hitting .200 this year with Triple-A Fresno.

The Blue Jays also said shortstop Jonathan Diaz cleared outright waivers.
