ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A deputy sheriff accused of shooting his wife with a BB gun at the county shooting range has been ordered to give up all his firearms until November.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://bit.ly/1L7fnwY ) that District Judge Al Kacin extended a protective order filed against Eric Holden by his wife Friday.
The judge says the victim demonstrated sufficient reason for the protection to be upheld, whether or not Holden was joking around when he shot her. She sustained a minor injury to her right leg.
The judge has noted that the victim may also be using the order as leverage in a divorce.
The couple has been together for three and a half years.
Holden has been given 72 hours to sell or give away any guns he possesses.
